Not having disease and being healthy are two entirely different things. Most people today are living short and dying long. This is a bigger fear in our generation than dying too soon. But a healthy life is a sum total of many factors - not just food alone or exercise or say stress. The thing we have learned about wellness over so many years of experience is that it’s like a combination lock. It doesn’t open unless you get all the numbers right. And those numbers typically fall in 6 pillars - Food, Exercise, Stress, Sleep, Belongingness and Environment. You miss out on one of them and the others fall out of balance too.
Sounds tough?
We thought the same at one time too. And we tried to eliminate one of the pillars to make it simpler. You know what we found? We simply couldn’t!! You ignore one of them for a period of time and the others start falling under their own weight very quickly. Life is a balancing act. Someone said it right when they compared life to a juggling act with glass balls. You try to hold onto only one of them and the others come crashing down.
Many times irrepairably.
And that is why the focus of the WQ community is to encourage its members to keep working towards balancing each of the pillars of wellness. Many a time when we talk about this, it seems very confusing to hear, even more complicated to implement.
We figured the best way would be to create an experience, a workshop of sorts for people to get a feeler of what each of these pillars really means. Obviously this workshop is not meant for everyone. It needs a half day commitment and willingness to really learn and implement. What this workshop will do is - spark an enquiry in you to learn about each of these pillars, give you some ideas that you can work on and perhaps also motivate many of you to finally start acting on what you already knew all along.
