We plan to add 4 more hearse cars - so that fully equiped ambulances can be diverted to provide emergency service rather than being used carry the mortal remains.Having additional hearse will free up the ambulances.
For those who are receiving this message for the first time, here is the context :
Drive Without Borders is a not-for-profit organisation based in Bangalore. We have worked towards safeguarding the rights of motorists through campaigns such as One Nation One Road Tax, PIL in J&K on seeking protection from vandalisation of private cars, PIL to bring in anti-Lemon law to protect vehicle buyers, WP against Motor Vehicle Taxation Amendment, and many more.
However, we have always felt it is our primary duty to provide whatever assistance we can in times of humanitarian crisis. We provided relief during the Chennai, Kerala and Coorg floods, and ration / toiletries during the nationwide lockdown in 2020.
We continue to work towards providing any help we can during this second wave that has hit us all very hard. The tales we hear of ambulances charging 30-40 thousand rupees only to drive a distance of 4-5 km have been heart rending. The families of the patients have neither the choice nor the luxury of looking for other options because timely medical help is of the essence. We are trying to do our bit to mitigate this situation. We recently bought an Omni and converted it into an Ambulance with Stretcher and Oxygen facility at a cost of 1.25 lakh rupees. This entire process took one week. We propose to have more such ambulances at the earliest.
The service shall be provided at no cost. We hope we can provide at least a few families with the dignified support they need during these extremely distressing times.
Work Plan:
We buy Omni/Eeco vans and convert them into ambulances or hearse vehicles.
Fund raised are used to ready these vans, fuel costs, wages for driver and medic, mobile connectivity, PPE kits and hygiene, drinking water. etc.
Looking forward to your generous support.
